Rokkatei in Autumn
Japan has a tradition of savoring four seasons, and sweets are one of the gentlest ways to enjoy those changes. At Rokkatei, we’ve always cherished this spirit—making confections with seasonal ingredients and creating spaces that reflect the beauty of nature.
In the blog posts ahead, we hope to share not only our sweets, but also the spirit of appreciating each season and the culture that comes with it.

Our birthplace, Hokkaido, lies at the northernmost tip of Japan.
In the heart of the island, in a town called Furano, we have our own farm with an adjoining shop.
In early September, the grapes begin to ripen, quietly telling us that autumn has arrived.

As the season deepens into October, the cool northern air brings vivid color to the trees, and the autumn leaves begin to change all at once.
At Rokkatei Art Village Nakasatsunai, the tunnel of mountain maples glows in shades of autumn.

At Rokkatei Fukuzumi Store, the vine leaves shift from gold to red, creating a beautiful gradation of color.

Autumn foliage has traditionally been likened to 錦 nishiki, a richly woven brocade of many hues. In the north, where winters are long and severe, these colors offer a quiet, heartfelt warmth.
In our next blog, we’ll share some holiday season gift assortments.
